A few sensible defaults so a tip is one tap, and anyone who wants to give something else can type their own. Change them whenever you like.
Share the link
You get bitcointipjar.com/yourname, a tip page behind it, and a QR
code for the places a link cannot go. Tips land in your wallet as they happen.
No account and no password. The one thing we ask for is an email address, and only so we can send you your private edit link. We do not send anything else to it.

Some of these take a link and some take a picture. You get both, and they point at the same place.

Episodes get found late. The link in note 47 has to work in 2031, on a page you may not even host any more.

A tip link ends up in places you can no longer edit: an old video description, a pinned post, someone else's write-up of you. Point it straight at a wallet and it lasts exactly as long as that wallet does. A jar sits in the middle, so the wallet behind it is one field only you can change, and every link you have ever posted keeps paying you.

Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The jar, the tip page, the QR code and the link cost nothing, and we take no part of a tip. There is no subscription and no card to enter.
Do you take a cut of tips?
No — and it is the design that makes that true rather than a promise. Your page asks your wallet for an invoice and hands it to the person tipping you; the payment goes from their wallet to yours over lightning. We are never in the middle of the money, so there is nothing there for us to take a cut from.
How fast do tips arrive?
Seconds. Lightning settles the moment the payment goes through, and the page shows a “Paid ✓” to the person tipping you. Try it on the demo jar above.
Which wallets work?
Any wallet that gives you a lightning address can receive tips through a jar. Confirming that a tip actually landed is a separate feature of the wallet (LUD-21), and not every one has it.
coinos.io, Alby, Blink, Speed and Stacker News do, so your page shows a live “Paid ✓” the moment a tip arrives and keeps a record of it. Wallet of Satoshi, Strike, ZBD and npub.cash do not — a jar on one of those receives tips perfectly well, you just will not see the confirmation on the page or a record of the tip afterwards. Paste your address into the box and it tells you which of those you have before you commit to anything.

What happens when I change wallets?
Open your edit link, paste the new lightning address, save. Every link you have ever posted and every QR code you have ever shared keeps working, and the next tip lands in the new wallet. Nothing you have published anywhere needs touching.
Do I need an account?
No account, no password, nothing to log in to. You give an email address once, only so your private edit link can be sent to you — that link is the key to the jar. If you lose it, the same email address can send it to you again.
Do the people tipping me need anything special?
Any lightning wallet can pay it. They open the link or scan the QR code, choose an amount, confirm — and the sats are in your wallet seconds later.
